ChampCar Tech Desk

The tech desk is used to ask technical questions and is not to be used as a post race tech line or to phish for how others built their cars. Please reference the BCCR as most questions submitted to the TechDesk can be answered by reading the BCCR. You can download the BCCR here: https://champcar.org/web/rules.php
VPI requests require the year, make, model, trim level, engine size, engine HP, Drive type (FWD, RWD, AWD, 4x4), auto or manual transmission, car weight, and all options. Your request will not be answered if you do not include all of that information. You must use http://www.automobile-catalog.com for all of your information submitted. Include the link to the automobile catalog so we can quickly reference the data. If your car is not listed on that website, please link any website that has the info. 2020-11-12 - Roll Cage Bars Behind Main Hoop

Q.
Does an arrangement where two tube are added to the backstay bars such that there is one diagonal, and one horizontal tube between the attachment points of the backstays satisfy this rule? See attached pdf for visual representation.
Does the horizontal tube have an additional points charge as a strut tower brace?  If so, do you consider shock absorber mounts as equivalent to strut towers?
Rear Shock Tower Brace Diagram

A.
Any horizontal bar, running between the back braces off the "B" pillar hoop, that is within 12 inches of the strut towers will be considered a strut brace.  Shock absorber mounts are equivalent for this purpose.
