About Bill Strong

Bill Strong began his racing journey while serving in the U.S. Air Force in the early 1980s. After attending the European Grand Prix at Brands Hatch, he was hooked—and soon after returning to the U.S., he started autocrossing. In 2009, Bill jumped into wheel-to-wheel racing through the 24 Hours of Lemons, and things quickly escalated. Later that year, he discovered the ChumpCar World Series and embraced its raw, no-frills approach to racing.
In 2016, Bill officially joined ChumpCar to lead web development and manage social media. After retiring from the University of Virginia in 2017, he took on the full-time role of Director of Marketing and played a key role in the transition and rebranding to ChampCar.
Today, Bill serves as ChampCar’s Director of Operations, a role that sees him deeply involved in nearly every aspect of the series. From overseeing race operations and logistics to producing the Inside ChampCar Podcast and supporting the technical team at the track, Bill’s leadership and hands-on approach help keep the series running smoothly and growing strong.
