Member account and registration guide

Create and maintain your ChampCar member account, complete the annual requirements, join your team, and make sure you are ready to be added to an event roster.

Your registration account and forum account are separate.

An account at register.champcar.org does not automatically create an account on the ChampCar Forum. Use your registration account for memberships, teams, cars, entries, waivers, and member records.

New member quick start

Complete these items before expecting to appear on a team’s event roster.

Create your account

Use accurate personal, contact, driver, and emergency-contact information.

Review your profile

Make sure your address, telephone number, and emergency contact are current.

Pay membership dues

An active ChampCar membership is required to participate in events.

Sign annual forms

Complete both the liability waiver and gear acknowledgement.

Join your team

Ask the captain for the Driver Pool ID and four-digit team PIN.

Check the dashboard

Confirm that warnings are cleared and your upcoming event appears after roster assignment.

First-time users

Create a ChampCar registration account

register.champcar.org/register
  1. Open the new-account registration page.
  2. Enter your first name, last name, email address, and telephone number.
  3. Complete the country, city, street address, and postal-code fields.
  4. Create and confirm your password.
  5. If applicable, enter another racing organization and license number. These fields are optional.
  6. Enter the name and telephone number of an emergency contact.
  7. Complete the robot-verification step and select Register.
Account approval: New accounts are reviewed by ChampCar staff. The registration system advises allowing up to 48 hours, although approval is often completed sooner.

Log in or reset your password

register.champcar.org/login
  1. Open the ChampCar member login.
  2. Enter the email address and password used when the account was created.
  3. Select Remember me only when using a private device.
  4. Select Log in.

If you forgot the password

Select Forgot your password?, enter the account email address, and use the link sent by the registration system. Check spam or junk folders if the message does not appear.

Your starting point

Understand the member dashboard

The dashboard shows what still needs attention. A new or inactive account displays warnings for expired membership, the annual liability waiver, and the annual gear acknowledgement.

When you are not yet associated with a team, the dashboard also provides shortcuts to Join a Team, Create Your Team, and Manage Cars.

Upcoming Events: An event normally appears after the team captain adds you to the entry roster. Entering a Driver Pool does not by itself place you on every event roster.

Keep information current

Review and update your profile

Initials/Name → Settings → Profile
  1. Select your initials or name in the upper-right corner, then select Settings.
  2. Open Profile.
  3. Review your name, country, state, city, street address, postal code, telephone number, and email address.
  4. Review your driver’s-license state and any other racing-organization information.
  5. Confirm that the emergency-contact name and telephone number are correct.
  6. Select Save.
Important: Emergency-contact information must belong to someone ChampCar can contact if you are injured or otherwise unable to communicate.

Password and appearance

Use the Password tab to enter the current password and create a new one. The Appearance tab lets you select Light, Dark, or System display mode.

Purchase or renew membership

Membership and Waivers → Pay Membership Dues
  1. Select Pay Membership Dues from the Membership and Waivers menu.
  2. Review the membership price and term shown by the registration system. The current page lists annual dues of $75.
  3. Select either PayPal or Debit or Credit Card.
  4. Complete the secure payment instructions.
  5. Return to the member dashboard and confirm that the expired-membership warning has cleared.
Already current? The page displays “Membership Current” and the date through which the membership is valid. No payment button is shown when no renewal is needed.

Annual requirements

Complete the liability waiver and gear acknowledgement

These are two separate annual forms. Completing one does not complete the other.

Annual liability waiver

  1. Select Liability Waiver under Membership and Waivers.
  2. Select Sign Annual Liability Waiver.
  3. Complete and submit the form through Smartwaiver.
  4. Return to the registration system and confirm that the page displays Waiver Current.

Annual gear acknowledgement

  1. Select Gear Acknowledgement.
  2. Select Sign Annual Gear Acknowledgement.
  3. Complete and submit the Smartwaiver form.
  4. Return and confirm that the page displays Acknowledgement Current.
Status check: When a form is current, its page displays the expiration date and confirms that you are ready to participate.

Driver and crew access

Join a team’s Driver Pool

Team → Join a team
  1. Ask the team captain for the team’s Driver Pool ID and four-digit PIN.
  2. Select Join a team from the Team menu.
  3. Enter the Driver Pool ID.
  4. Enter the four-digit team PIN.
  5. Select Join Pool.
Driver Pool versus event roster: Joining the pool makes you available to the captain. The captain must still add you to each event entry where you will drive or work as crew.

Starting your own team

Selecting Create my team makes you the captain. You will create a team name, receive a Driver Pool ID, and establish a four-digit team PIN. Car setup and event entry are covered in the separate Team Captain Guide.

Proof of membership

Print or save your membership card

Membership and Waivers → Print Membership Card

The membership-card page displays your name, member ID, and expiration date. Select Print ID Card to print it, or save a screenshot on your phone for convenient access.

The page also displays current member-benefit information and discount programs. Review program dates, requirements, and submission deadlines before making a purchase.

View event participation history

Membership and Waivers → Event Participation

This page lists ChampCar events associated with your account. New members see “No events yet.” Once events are recorded, the page provides an event count and export options, including PDF.

Missing an event? Contact registration support with the event name, date, team, and your member ID so the record can be researched.

Final check

Before your next ChampCar event

  • Your membership shows as current.
  • The liability waiver shows as current.
  • The gear acknowledgement shows as current.
  • Your contact information is accurate.
  • Your emergency contact is current.
  • You have joined the correct Driver Pool.
  • The captain has added you to the event roster.
  • The event appears under Upcoming Events.
