Q.Would splitter ramps be considered part of the splitter (10pts)? Or would these be additional aero devices? A.We have discussed this and determined anything other than a horizontal splitter would be additional material points. Verified by TECH 2024

9.22 - AERODYNAMIC DEVICES
9.22. AERODYNAMIC DEVICES 9.22.1. Aerodynamic devices not to exceed the width of unmodified OE bodywork (fenders, bumpers, doors). Note: Side mirrors are not included in bodywork width. Maximum wing height 12” above the roof. Maximum wing drop-back 12” behind the car. A splitter is any horizontal device installed from the centerline of the front axle, extending a maximum of 12” out of the front of the vehicle. An air dam is any vertical device installed from the nose of the bumper down. 9.22.2. Wings may not be mounted forward of the centerline of the rear axle. 9.22.3. Moving aerodynamic devices are prohibited. 9.22.4. Definition of a 10-point wing: Uprights (mounts), endplates, and a single airfoil. Gurney flaps are permitted.

Q.The rules do not currently specify a a tolerance on how "vertical" the air dam must be. Other series (e.g. NASA, SCCA) put this at 5%.Is this currently defined for ChampCar? A.There is no definition on angle. However if you have a scoop type i.e. angled air damn you will get points for both horizontal and vertical at 20 points.Verified by TECH 2024

BMW 3-Series bumper covers Rule 4.7.6. Replacement of OEM Parts / Tech interpretation and enforcement of BMW 3-Series bumper covers is that E30’s cannot use E36 covers. E36’s may use aftermarket E36 M3 replacement cover but must remove lower “lip” or pay 10 points as a splitter. The 1994 E36 BMW came from the factory with all the M tec (M3) bodywork which makes the M3 bodywork legal for the E36 platform. Verified by TECH 20...
